Students work with local agencies to develop consumer materials

In Family and Consumer Sciences, FCS 331, Consumer Materials, students are required to prepare professional information materials in the form of newsletters, brochures, websites, etc. Each year we invite local social service agencies to come to class and tell us about their needs in relaying information to their clients and the public at large. We then discuss those presentations and the students volunteer to work with each agency in developing consumer materials that will be useful in the agencies' mission.

We have written and developed an annual report for the Centrillio Council of the Girl Scouts, informational brochures for Partners for Community, Heartland Head Start, and the McLean County Cooperative Extension Service. This year we are working with The Jumpstart Program and the Children's Foundation to create informational packets to promote their programs.
